Richard and Annie Murphy are partners in life and business. In 2016, they combined their business acumen with their passion for hockey and purchased the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL. Under their direction, the Trail Smoke Eaters have undertaken a significant transformation and have a clear path for the journey ahead. In addition to their passion for hockey, the Murphy’s are committed to youth empowerment and community impact. Richard and Annie started the Murphy Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports young people and their right to thrive. Through their foundation, the Murphy’s have made a profound impact in their home state of Minnesota and in British Columbia. Richard and Annie are excited to take on ownership of the Peninsula Panthers and to lead the organization into a bright and successful future.

Madelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and American Studies from Fordham University and a Masters of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, where she focused her studies on community development and social entrepreneurship. Since 2021, Madelyn has been involved with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL focusing specifically on special projects, philanthropic collaborations with the Murphy Family Foundation and merchandising. Madelyn is thrilled to be stepping into the role of Director of Business Operations and is passionate about ensuring that every Panther player gets the best quality hockey program available, and that every Panthers fan enjoys a family-friendly, fun game night with the best hockey in the VIJHL.

Ryan is an accomplished professional hockey player currently playing for the Peißenberg Miners in the Bayernliga. Ryan played two years in the CSSHL, two years in the BCHL as a player for the Trail Smoke Eaters, two years in the NCAA for Fitchburg State University, and currently has four seasons behind him as a professional hockey player in Europe.

Sonja grew up in the Okanagan and is a graduate of the Penticton Secondary School. Sonja has vast experience in multiple industries, including sales, management, and business operations. In this role, Sonja will be managing the day-to-day business operations of the Peninsula Panthers, selling tickets at game nights, and working with corporate sponsors. She is thrilled to be bringing her over two-decades of experience to the Peninsula Panthers.
